7 feared dead in Rukum landslide

Seven people have been feared dead in a landslide triggered by heavy rainfall in Hukam VDC-7 in Rukum district on Monday.
The seven, three of a single family, went missing when the landslide swept away a watermill. The landslide that came from around 400 metres above whisked away the watermill into the Sano Bheri river.
Police said the chances of the missing found alive are slim.
Villagers and security personnel came to know of the incident about 10 hours after the incident as the watermill is about a four-hour walk from the nearest settlement.

Khadga Bahadur Khadka, 40, and his daughter Buddimaya, 16, were swept away by the stream, police said. The bodies of the victims were recovered on Tuesday. The victims, residents of Triyuga Municipality-12, were returning home from Murkuchi Bazaar when the incident occurred, police said.
